Honoured members of 2009

Former members of the week of 2009

21st December, 2009

Benedikt Rudolph (AEGEE-München)

AEGEE’s first LTC on Web 2.0 finished not long time ago, and Benedikt needed to take over the whole organisation on the spot one day

before, when the other main organiser became sick. Totally overwhelmed by this new situation, he had to re-arrange the program, get everyone on line and try not to forget anything or leaving his head somewhere else. He managed absolutely great and no one noticed anything! It is his biggest achievement with this stressful new situation.

Nominated by Nadine Karbach (AEGEE-Mainz-Wiesbaden)

14th December, 2009

Mario Giuseppe Varrenti (AEGEE-Warwick)

In May this year, Mario together with the IPWG board developed the project idea “The UN Millenium Development Goals – a challenge for today’s youth?” and applied for Youth in Action. In autumn they received the good news: it is granted! Nowadays, the MDG project is one of the subprojects of “Beyond Europe”, the flagship project 2010/2011. On December 10th-13th Mario and other “Beyond Europe” people finally met partners from India and South Africa in person. In a great intercultural experience they discussed and shared the vision and shaped details more clearly. Without Mario this whole project wouldn’t have been possible – Thank you so much!

Nominated by Prisca Merz (AEGEE-Passau and “Beyond Europe”)

7th December, 2009

Tomasz Szreder (AEGEE-Warszawa & AEGEE-ACADEMY)

Tomek was busy in the last days not only preparing and leading Polish Board Training Course 3 and replying to endless e-mails in AEGEE-Academy board list, but he is responsible also for the first Human Resources European School (HRES) concept development meeting, which will take place this weekend in the CD House in Brussels. AEGEE-Academy has just now chosen the manager and the host local of the first  HRES ever, so Tomek will have even more work!

Nominated by Anita Kalmane (AEGEE-Europe)

30th November, 2009

Hristo Shterev (AEGEE-Sofia)

Hristo (before AEGEE Sofia, now AEGEE-Gent wanna be member) is being nominated for brave Erasmus in the exotic city of Gent, on his mission of the Nobel Prize for reviving AEGEE spirit in this lovely student’s city. We wish him more than luck and hope that also this nomination will increase his motivation and power of change!

Nominated by Natalia Hubert (AEGEE-Krakow and Network Commission)

24th November, 2009 (instead of 23rd November)

Giacomo Tucci (AEGEE-Firenze)

Dott. Giacomo Tucci “advertised” AEGEE-Europe in Easter Island four weeks ago and in the Antarctic Earth one week ago. You can see a part of experienced he posted on his Facebook page or watch here. AEGEE-Firenze is glad and proud of him both as a friend and as their former Treasur.

Nominated by Domenico Mazza (AEGEE-Firenze)

18th November, 2009 (instead of 16th November)

AEGEE-Sofia LTC organisers (AEGEE-Sofia)

Why AEGEE-Sofia? Because it is unexpected… You expect to find a local that is rising, but is not really doing great, but you meet the most motivated group of people that exist in the Network, that grabbed the opportunity and organised a marvelous Local Training Course, using their experience combined with fresh ideas. Then you cannot say anything else than: thank you Diana, Dima, Lili, Jaffer, Daniel, Elena, Vyara, Atanas, Constantin, Snejana, Petja and all the rest that made a dream come true!

Nominated by Manos Valasis (AEGEE-Europe)

9th November, 2009

Kuba Nagorski & Michal Kasprzak (AEGEE-Katowice)

Kuba (main coordinator) and Michal (incoming responsible) did their best to make both NWM Katowice participants and Network Commission feel like at home, especially with providing NetCom of all the facilities for their NCM and organising a successful NWM in the last weekend. They were always there to answer to questions, have a moment to chat, help with everything needed and so on, and so on!

Nominated by The Network Commission

2nd November, 2009

Sandra Geldmacher (AEGEE-Konstanz)

Last week Sandra and her “Yourope Needs YOU!” (YNY) project team uploaded their result booklet online (check it on intranet if you haven’t seen it yet). It took around four months for Sandra as the editor-in-chief to make it and at the same time she was in the core team of YNY and AEGEE-Academy board. It was not an easy task to manage everything, but she did and therefore she is our Member of the Week!

Nominated by Nadine Karbach (AEGEE-Mainz-Wiesbaden)

26th October, 2009

Kateryna Vronska (AEGEE-Kyiv)

There was no doubt or discussion who would be member of this week. Autumn Agora Kyiv 2009 just finished and Agora’s main coordinator Kateryna finally can rest and sleep. Together with her AEGEE-Kyiv team she organised this autumn’s most important event – Agora, working hard not only in the previous week, but already long, long time before. Thanks for being brave, for being positive, for making the dream to come true and for handling almost 700 people!

Nominated by Comite Directeur (AEGEE-Europe)

19th October, 2009

Patrick Kabasci (AEGEE-Aachen)

Patrick is always there for CD and all other AEGEE members if somebody need him. If CD figures out on Sunday evening, that they want to spend the night in Aachen before going to the airport, he immediately offers his flat! But the main reason of nominating Patrick is not this. The main reason is the fact that Patrick helps a lot with writing a new privacy statement for the online services of AEGEE-Europe, which will finally enable everyone to join the intranet without any doubts of security.

Nominated by Agnes Leyrer (AEGEE-Europe)

12th October, 2009

Dora Monogyiou (AEGEE-Athína)

This little girl Dora with a big heart gave more than she has to the success of “Where Does Europe End”. Being the project manager of such a big project, she managed a lot in such a short time and showed a great performance in their kickoff event in Koszeg. Not only she worked for AEGEE as the project manager of WDEE, but also she is the president of AEGEE-Athina since December 2008, working day and night for AEGEE. Unfortunately she is leaving the project due to her busy schedule and last week announced an open call for new team members, but the things she did in such a short notice made her worthy enough to put her name here. Also, I can’t underestimate the big efforts of the other team members who were actively working for the project, Thomas Leszke, Fernando Martin, Orsolya Cziraki, Mario Giuseppe Varrenti and Casper Wolf, for organizing such an excellent event.

Nominated by Percin Imrek (AEGEE-Çanakkale and Where Does Europe End)

6th October, 2009

Manos Valasis (AEGEE-Peiraiás)

Manos is not only ITWG Speaker, managing the Intranet Team, but he is also working all nights long in the CD house as CD assistant since the beginning of September. He shows a lot of patience when it comes to helping out the CD with all IT problems, weather it is about non-working webpage, non-working Robert or phone system. On top of that he is a wonderful team member the CD is happy to work with. This Monday Manos together with Olga also delivered General Mailing to Delft with his car.

Nominated by Agnes Leyrer, AEGEE-Europe on behalf of all CD

28th September, 2009

Verena Schmidt (AEGEE-Tübingen)

Verena and all Members’ Manual 2009 team has been working hard since early Spring to finish the newest version of Members’ Manual and let AEGEE members to receive it in Agora Kyiv as it should be sent to printing exactly this week. Endless meetings, versions of articles, reviving and reading them over and over again have not decreased her motivation and optimism. Thanks for that!

Nominated by Tena Prelec, AEGEE-Trieste and Members’ Manual 2009 Team

 21st September, 2009

Thijs Hubers (AEGEE-Groningen)

Thijs has been CD House secret helper for years, always ready to fix something broken and to give thousands of advices and suggestions how to be able to live in the house normally. Last week he came for a surprise visit again and stayed for 3 days, cleaning the house, fixing things and taking care of everything the CD members didn’t have time to do as well as finding the previous communications with our landlady and making a list of things she promised to fix and she still need to do. There is even Thijs’ room (although very small) next to the kitchen!

Nominated by Anita Kalmane, AEGEE-Ogre & AEGEE-Europe

14th September, 2009

Aysel Gojayeva (AEGEE-Baki)

AEGEE-Baki member Aysel Gojayeva did excellent job by getting 5 600 Canadian Dollars (~ 4 000 Euros) grant to AEGEE-Baki project “Youth for Gender Equality” from the Canadian Embassy in Ankara. This initiative is very important step within fundraising efforts of AEGEE-Baki. Aysel, initiated the idea, developed project proposal and submitted it to Canadian Embassy in March, 2009 and this week the local received positive answer. She deserves to be a member of the week, since AEGEE really needs young and motivated people having strong fundraising skills!

Nominated by Emin Amrullayev, AEGEE-Baki

7th September, 2009

Georg Rehberger (AEGEE-München)

During the absence of Network Commissioners Thomas and Patrick, Georg set up a download center for AEGEE PR materials in German language all by himself, with some first flyers and buttons that can be downloaded and customised by each local, with a detailed description how to use it, informed the locals, made them start new HR & PR campaigns. Have a look here.

Nominated by Thomas Leszke, AEGEE-Köln and Network Commission
