We are happy to let you know that AEGEE’s involvement in the Charlemagne Youth Prize is gradually increasing this year – and within the framework of the new ideas and initiatives, there is an opportunity for YOU as well to get involved!
What is the Charlemagne Youth Prize?
Awarded by the European Parliament and the Charlemagne Foundation every year, the Youth Prize is one of the most prestigious award any youth-led initiative can receive. From hundreds of submitted projects from the 28 member states of the EU, the high-level jury selects 28 national winners who participate in the Charlemagne Prize Ceremony in Aachen in order to find out which projects can receive the high recognitions of being the top three projects, qualifiying them to be the most successful projects of that year. You can read more about the Prize and the call published every year on the website of the European Parliament.
Previously awarded AEGEE projects include:
- Yourope Needs You! – Winner of the European Charlemagne Youth Prize 1st place 2009
- Europe on Track – Winner of the European Charlemagne Youth Prize 1st place 2013
The Faces of Europe photoblog of the Your Vision for EUrope Project has won the National Charlemagne Youth Prize in Romania, and the Summer University Project has won the National Charlemagne Youth Prize in Slovakia.
This means that both projects from AEGEE-Europe will be represented during the Charlemagne Ceremony in Aachen, Germany in May 23-25 2017.
AEGEE-Europe is supporting the preparations of the Charlemagne Youth Prize Ceremony in May,
together with the continuous involvement of AEGEE-Aachen within the organiser committee, working in cooperation with the Charlemagne Foundation
In 2017 AEGEE-Europe also became part of the official organising committee of the 10th Anniversary of the Charlemagne Youth Prize –
and is co-organising an event in Brussels together with the Young European Leadership under the patronage and with the support of the European Parliament.
Stay tuned for more news regarding the preparations of the events – and look out for open calls joining the events!
