Open call to join the Election Observation Project of IPWG in AEGEE

Are you interested in Election Observation Missions? The International Politics Working Group is looking for you!

As you might know, a new IPWG board has been elected and this is the first project of a series we want to establish. Thomas Leszke and Alin-Florin Calin, our Speaker, gathered at the Agora Zaragoza a group of around twenty AEGEE members who are interested in election observation and since this is an IPWG project, we are looking for some more IPWG members, who are interested in joining us.

We wish to establish an effective election observation mechanism in AEGEE. In a long term we want to give AEGEE members the possibility to take part in official election observation missions. But at the moment we have barely any knowledge and practice of observing our own election and even less international ones.

Therefore will work on a concept, built small team and observe AEGEE voting procedures on European level and local level as well as inside and outside AEGEE – hopefully.

The activities we imagine are

  • Participation in OSCE online training programme
  • Own training events with external experts
  • Participation in local electoral management of all kinds of public electoral processes
  • Participation in OSCE election observation missions EOMs and other international organisations
The EOP of the IPWG should start as soon as possible in order to be prepared for election observations in Agora Patra and the European Parliament Elections in 2014.

So all of you who are intersted in joining the Election Observation Project EOP please contact Thomas Leszke (thomas.leszke@aegee.org) or Alin-Florin Calin (alin-florin.calin@aegee.org) for the next days and you will have the possibility to learn more about election processes as well as observation and with the provided knowledge do election observation at your Local Agorae.

Best regards,
The IPWG Board 2013/14
