<\/a>On the 11th of July 2012\u00a0AEGEE-Europe<\/strong>\u00a0was invited to attend as one of the Speakers a Press Conference at the European Parliament in Brussels, to give public support to the project of\u00a0Fraternite 2020, \u00a0<\/strong>inside the frame of\u00a0European Citizens’ Initiative<\/strong>\u00a0of the European Commission.<\/p>\nThe Comit\u00e9 Directeur and AEGEE-Europe<\/strong> were\u00a0this time\u00a0represented by Luis Alvarado Martinez, who clearly expressed AEGE-Europe’s full support for initiatives that, like Fraternite 2020, commute to European mobility.<\/p>\n Among other Speaker present, there were:<\/p>\n –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Members of the European Parliament (MEP) Gerald H\u00e4fner (Greens<\/strong>, Germany), R\u00f3\u017ca Thun (EPP<\/strong>, Poland) and Kinga G\u00f6ncz (S & D<\/strong>, Hungary).<\/p>\n –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Emanuel Alfranseder (new President of Erasmus Student Network<\/strong>).<\/p>\n Lear more about the initiative here:<\/p>\n Fraternite 2020 in a nutshell<\/p>\n A EUROPE FOR CITIZENS…<\/p>\n For us mobility lies at the heart of the European project! By giving more EU citizens the opportunity to spend time in another member state, we give them a better chance to ‘broaden their horizons’ and develop a European identity. Specifically, we ask for three measures to ensure that the EU opens up more stringent opportunities for\u00a0citizens to go abroad and experience Europe first-hand:<\/p>\n We believe that the EU needs to re-focus its integration efforts on the level of\u00a0individual<\/em>\u00a0European citizens to build a genuine European union of people, not states. This would also lead to\u00a0positive economic, social,\u00a0and\u00a0cultural effects<\/strong>.
