AEGEE / European Students’ Forum is looking for a Project & Communications Officer to work together with us in our headoffice in Brussels. AEGEE membership is not a requirement to apply for the position.

AEGEE is one of Europe’s biggest interdisciplinary student organisations. As a non-governmental, politically independent, and non-profit organisation, we are open to students and young people from all faculties and disciplines. Founded in 1985 in Paris, today AEGEE has grown to a Network of 13000 friends, present in 160 cities in 40 countries all over Europe. AEGEE puts the idea of a unified Europe into practice. Operating without a national level, it brings 13000 students from 40 different countries directly in touch with each other.

We are looking for a young professional to work with us in the development of the project “Why European Parliament? 2.0” (YEP 2.0). The first objective of the project is to promote and multiply a better understanding of the working of the European Parliament, its relevance, and of the EU added value by disseminating non-partisan and factual information on the impact of the European Parliament, by youth for youth. The second objective of the project is to educate about the value of active citizenship, promote civic participation and engagement in european democracy, with a special emphasis on addressing the potential young voters, and encourage them to take an active role in European society. These objectives will be achieved through several small and large scale events, combined with a strong social media campaign and online communication.

Main responsibilities:

  • General Project management (overview, communications, documentation etc.)
  • Within the project, design and implement the media campaign to inform young people about the European institutions and the European Parliament Elections.
  • Management and supervision of the organization of the activities linked to the project.
  • Provide the general content and pro-active support for the activities
  • Support the development of tools and resources
  • Arranging documentation for the reporting of all the activities and deliverables
  • Communication and cooperation with partners (other NGOs, European institutions)
  • Finding and building new partnerships within and beyond the project

In order to fulfil this role, we expect the following skills, experience and knowledge

  • Extensive experience in Project Management
  • Communication and design skills
  • Social media/web management experience
  • English C1
  • Basic office IT skills: Microsoft Office suite, Powerpoint skills, online collaborative tools (gdrive, skype)
  • Interest, knowledge and/or experience in EU-funded projects in the field of youth

For this, one or more of the following skills, knowledge and experience are an asset:

  • IT skills
  • Knowledge of French
  • Experience in corporate fundraising
  • Experience in the organisation of large scale events (such as Festivals and large-scale conferences)
  • Familiarity with GDPR law

Other necessary skills and attitudes are:

  • Engagement in youth NGO or other NGO at the national and/or European levels
  • Intercultural teamwork mindset
  • Openness to work in a fast-paced and flexible NGO environment
  • Interest in the work of an international youth NGO
  • Proactivity, ability to work independently and learning mindset
  • Willingness to travel internationally from time to time
