The AEGEEan will have four photographers helping us at the Agora Zaragoza. One of them is Agora Zaragoza helper Jorge Sánchez Hernández from AEGEE-Alicante who is very experienced with a camera.

When did you join AEGEE?

Jorge: I do not know the exact date, but I know it was one day before the deadline for the Summer Universities this year. The talk with my friend at 2 AM was very much worth it.

Why did you join AEGEE?

I wanted to have a different summer, meet new people from everywhere and travel around. I was also interested in the Environmental Working Group (EnWG), even though I did not know what its function was.

What have you done in AEGEE so far?

I went to the Summer University “A Dutch-Deustch Adventure” organized by AEGEE-Enschede, AEGEE-Köln and AEGEE-Utrecht (which was great! I recommend it to everyone for 2014!) I have been helping with organizing the Mediterraneanly! Agora pre-event. Also, I attended a Youth in Action (YiA) project called “Green Leaders” on the part of AEGEE in Istanbul this September. After this, I joined the EnWG as the secretary, and now I am attending the AGORA Zaragoza 2013. But I have a lot of things in mind and I really want to get deep in AEGEE. It means a lot to me already!

When did you become interested in photography?

I have always been interested in photography, my mom had an old camera that I would use some years ago all the time. But my interest in photography became stronger when I turned 18.

How is it to work professionally as a photographer?

If we define proffessional photographer as someone that gets paid for taking pictures, then I am a proffessional photographer, otherwise, I am just a noob trying to get better everyday.

I am, mainly, a nightlife photographer, and I also do a bit of fashion photography as a hobbie. I work for a company and take pictures at parties, concerts, pubs, events, for alcohol brands and sometimes even at supermarkets. I love my job because I get to meet a lot of people, make contacts and have fun with my friends at the same time as I earn money and get better at taking pictures and editing them.

What made you interested in becoming a helper for Agora Zaragoza?

I am very interested in how AEGEE works and this was my best chance to do three things I really wanted to do: meet a lot of AEGEEans, work in a group and to attend the AGORA to see how everything works.

What is special about being part of the helper’s team?

Being part of the helper’s team of the best AGORA that I will have the chance to see in AEGEE, you mean? (Because I was not in Alicante 2011)

What tips can you give for people that know less about photography?

Be patient, take time for things to go as you want. It is not about the camera, but about the photographer. Get your gear out on the streets and shoot!
