Dutch Days in November

The AEGEE head office in Brussels is not only the working place of the Comité Directeur, but also a meeting point for the AEGEE network – for project teams, working groups, and also for our Antennae who want to show their new members around in the wonderful world of the European institutions.

This month, “the House” was honoured by two of our locals from the Netherlands visiting us on two consecutive weekends. On 13th-14th November, AEGEE-Leiden was present with 11 members, and on 19th-20th November we had AEGEE-Amsterdam with 17 members on board. Both delegations had some programme of their own, like visiting the European Parliament and doing some obligatory sightseeing in Brussels. But in the evening, they were our guests, discovering the headquarters, cooking delicious dinners for the whole crew, and having very enjoyable nights out in the city centre.
Obviously, these visits also included a presentation from our side about the European dimension of our work. Because AEGEE-Europe is in the first place a European network that wants to achieve things together, and it is important that our new members know how they can contribute to our European activities. Therefore we are very glad for every such occasion we have, and even more so when completely new members instantly show their interest in getting involved in “Europe” straight away, like it was the case during the past two weekends! :-)

As you can see on the picture, displaying typical accomodation strategies from a crowded country where space is limited, such trips to Brussels are not only highly instructive, but have a great team-building effect as well. On the other hand, for us in the Comité Directeur it is always a great motivation to meet these enthusiastic young people for whom we are working. In both cases we had a great time together, and we hope to see many of you guys back soon, somewhere in Europe!
