The most (attr)active body in AEGEE in the CD house

First weekend of December didn’t bring to Brussels only snow, but also the most (attr)active body in AEGEE – yes, I’m talking about AEGEE-Academy. Their board meeting in CD house started on Saturday, when ALL board members gathered in our cosy kitchen and had a nice dinner with us.After relaxed informal evening, we got up early on Sunday morning and started to work hard.

Freezing weather outside and tons of snow everywhere didn’t bother us, because we were all day long in our warm social room, drinking tea and brainstorming and planning and thinking and creating and… and trying to come up with the best strategy for the work of AEGEE-Academy in upcoming months.

During the meeting, we had a look at the strategy that was drafted during board meeting in Alicante (august 2010) and we discussed objectives that were created there. Such as: recruiting new trainers, offering more opportunities for Academy members , trying to create a new image for Academy – being younger and more accessible, and improving cooperation with other youth NGOs in the training field. After detailed evaluation, it was great to see that there was a lot of progress since August and we also discussed future steps that have to be made until AGORA Alicante.

After discussion about SWOT analysis of Academy (for which also some other Academy members joined us – either live in CD house or online on chat), we had a long debate about how can Academy contribute to AEGEE in general.

Then, of course, we were talking about next European Schools (PRES2, FRES organized in cooperation with BEST and ESSU – ES1 combined with SU) and about the spring round of LTCs in 2011.

We all can see that there is a need to make Academy stronger and more (attr)active, there is a need to strengthen whole AEGEE network and its human resources. So Academy decided to organize a meeting in February 2011. It will be in Brussels and its aim will be to draft a new HR strategy for AEGEE-Europe and AEGEE-Academy. All Academy members are more than welcomed to join us! Stay tuned for more information soon.

All-in-all, Academy board meeting in Brussels was short and freezing, but fruitful and full of great AEGEE spirit and motivation. Let’s see what Academy can do for AEGEE in 2011!
