>Strategic Planning Meeting on Human Resources by AEGEE-Academy

First weekend of not-so-cold February was again very busy in CD house. AEGEE-Academy, together with CD and Chair met here for strategic planning meeting on human resources. Friday was arrival day, a bit of getting to know each other, cooking dinner and surprisingly, going to sleep quite early, so everybody would be fresh next morning. And it was needed for sure – we woke up at 8am on sunny Saturday morning and after breakfast and strong coffee, we started to work. First, we were analyzing the needs of AEGEE for HR, both organizational needs of AEGEE and personal needs of AEGEE members.
Then, after a looong looong discussion, we came up with the aim for HR in AEGEE: Empower, develop and manage AEGEE members to achieve the aims of the organization. Discussion about the objectives was even longer. We spent hours by discussing, analyzing, thinking, brainstorming and discussing again in order to create a list of objectives. Finally, we managed to come up with 6 objectives and we were ready to go on and think about methods as well as implementation. Our group consisted of experienced people from CD, Chair, AEGEE-Academy board and AEGEE-Academy members and some other people active on local/European level, who joined us either in Brussels or online via skype. This nice structure of people brought a lot of ideas, different points of views and opinions that led to a lot of discussions.
We were planning and discussing whole weekend, but in the end, we were able to create first HR strategy for AEGEE, as well as action plan with things that have to be done and implemented by AEGEE-Academy (board), by CD and in the end, also by all our members.
We were working hard whole weekend, so we didn’t really have time for fun (apart from informal kitchen discussions after dinner), but as some people stayed till Monday, we were able to go out a bit at least on Sunday night, to get some fresh air after tiring weekend spent in CD house.
Now, let’s see how we can proceed with all our plans that were created during this extremely tiring, but really fruitful meeting. So let’s empower, develop and manage AEGEE members to achieve the aim of the organization.
