Dutch Days reloaded

Apparently it is a cyclical phenomenon that Antennae from the Netherlands have a go at Brussels and honour us with their presence. After the very enjoyable ambush we suffered in November, half a year later we have the next series of visitors from the North. Starting last weekend, 27th-30th May, with AEGEE-Groningen.

Traditionally, visits to Brussels comprise three main elements: an educational one, visiting the European institutions (in this case the Parliament that kindly supported this trip), a touristic one, seeing the city of Brussels which I still consider to be very attractive, if not necessarily spectacular, and a teambuilding one, having a great time with their Comité Directeur in the House – and of course learning something about AEGEE-Europe!
After enduring my presentation with great stamina and only occasionally attempting to lure me into switching to Dutch (which I successfully resisted), we had a great barbecue evening in the House, and such was the atmosphere that our guests only managed to fulfil their promise to leave for party around 01:45. What underlines the success of this visit is the rare fact that all members of the Comité Directeur fully (and sometimes more than fully) participated in all the social activities. I can say with confidence that we achieved a nice little piece of European integration during these days! :-)
A big thank you also goes to AEGEE-Leuven, who had a preparatory meeting for their Youth in Action exchange with AEGEE-Ankara, AEGEE-Burgos, AEGEE-Madrid and AEGEE-Poznań and spontaneously invited all of us to participate in their city tour on Sunday. We spent a lovely afternoon in Leuven, and we are looking forward to visiting you again when the exchange is taking place in August!
But first, we are now looking forward to having AEGEE-Nijmegen here this weekend – starting from tomorrow…
