Ermanno Napolitano candidating for Members Commission

Dear Network,

Here is one of our candidates for Members Commission at this Agora Enschede, current Juridical Commission (JC) President, Ermanno Napolitano.

AEGEEan: So Ermanno, tell us after one year and a half of JC what made you choose Members Commission (MemCom)?

In some ways it is very different from what I have done in JC, also because it was not something that was expected of me to run for, but after doing three Agorae, one EBM, establishing a cooperation with two Comité Directeurs, and after spending six months in Members Commission I soon realised that I want to keep contributing to this organ. I guess it is more than just continuing something but also because I believe I have more to offer AEGEE.

What would you change if you are elected for president of Members Commission ?

In Members Commission there is not something I would like to change because I think it is working very good just the way it is. However, I would like to create files with aggregated data, where the personal information could be accessed without asking the Members Commission. I think this improvement is very important and useful. The fact that it was active in previous years has made me realise its potential.

In these last three years that you have been a member you have had plenty of stories.  What is your best Juridical Commission memory?

It is impossible for me to tell you just one, but the things I am most proud of the archive, the JC website, the JC internal booklet, and the agreements with the Chair for avoiding the problem of the minutes and amendments. These were very important and very hard tasks that had to be completed, that is probably why it is my best story, because I succeeded.

Currently you are competing against Alla. She has been in AEGEE for a longer time. What makes you think people will choose you as president?

I do not know if more experienced is the right term to use but rather different experience than mine. As president of the JC I am a member of the current Members Commission which is one of the most active in AEGEE-Europe’s history. I am ready to coordinate a team but also to work in a group. I know Alla, I have worked with her already, there is a mutual esteem between us. If there is to be a continuity to this MemCom, as possible president I could guarantee it.

Describe in one sentence what you would say if someone approached and asked you why Europe needs AEGEE?

(Laugh) Just one sentence? Because we are the present of Europe and working to build its future.

If AEGEE was something you could carry every day (example: keys), what would that be?

I guess I carry AEGEE everyday with me, it is in my heart.
